Rug resizing and reshaping in Toronto
Moved house, and the rug no longer fits? Or does it ripple and curl however you lay it? Rug resizing makes a rug smaller and finishes the new edge. Reshaping, also called blocking, can help it lie flatter.
Pickup and delivery are free. Cleaning is priced by the size of your rug, and you'll see the full price before we start.

Signs to look for
When a rug doesn’t fit or won’t lie right
Two different problems.
Resizing is for a rug that’s too big for its new room. Reshaping is for a rug that has lost its shape, so it no longer sits square or flat on the floor.
- Too big for the room
- Corners that curl up
- Ripples that stay
- Sides that aren’t straight
Measure the space where the rug will go before you call us.

Our first look
What we check first
We look before anything is cut.
Cutting a rug down can change how its pattern and borders look. So we look at how your rug is made and how the design sits, and we talk through with you where it could be cut and what would change.
For reshaping, we look at where the rug is out of shape and by how much. We’ll tell you honestly whether blocking is likely to help.
Once a rug is cut, it can’t be made bigger again. Nothing is cut until you’ve agreed.

Your options
Resize or reshape
What each one does.
Your rug may need one of them, both, or neither, and we’ll say which.
- Resize Cut down to a smaller size, where the rug allows it. The cut side or end is then finished with serging, binding or new fringe, whichever you’d like, so the rug holds together.
- Reshape Blocking, for a rug that isn’t square or won’t lie flat. It can help the rug sit flatter and straighter.
We price both once we’ve seen the rug. Call us for a price, and you decide before we do anything.

One visit
Wash first, then the work
All in one pickup.
Resizing and reshaping start the way every repair does: with a full wash, even for a fairly new rug. The wash takes out loose fibres and can show hidden moth damage, so we start on a clean rug and know what we’re working with.
We collect and return rugs for free across Etobicoke, Toronto, North York and Scarborough, as well as Thornhill, Richmond Hill, Vaughan and Markham. When you book, tell us the size you need, or that the rug won’t lie flat.

Other rug repairs
Not every rug needs a new size. We also repair worn edges, fringe, holes and moth damage.
Questions
Rug resizing questions
The questions we hear most, answered plainly. For anything else, just call us.
How much does rug resizing cost?
The price depends on the rug and on what it needs, so we work it out once we’ve seen the rug. To get started, text photos, the rug’s dimensions and the size you’d like to (416) 939-7571. You agree the price before any work, and if you say no after the inspection, we return your rug free.
Can any rug be made smaller?
Not always. It depends on how the rug is made and how its pattern would look once cut. We look at it first and tell you honestly if resizing makes sense.
Will blocking make my rug lie perfectly flat?
We can’t promise that. Blocking can help a rug lie flatter and straighter. Once we’ve seen yours, we’ll tell you how much difference we think it can make.
How long does resizing take?
It depends on the rug, the work it needs and how busy we are. A regular wash usually takes about a week on its own, and the resizing or reshaping is done after it. Ask us when you book, and we’ll give you an idea for your rug.
