Moth damage rug repair in Toronto
Moth larvae can eat a wool rug down to its threads. Repair deals with what they leave behind. We look at the damage, tell you whether a repair makes sense and what it costs, and wash the rug before any repair starts.
Pickup and delivery are free. Cleaning is priced by the size of your rug, and you'll see the full price before we start.

Signs to look for
What moth damage looks like
It often starts where nobody looks.
The damage tends to begin under a sofa or bed, or on the back of the rug. By the time you spot it, the pile may already be gone in places.
- Bare or thin patches
- Tufts that come away
- Base threads showing
- Small holes
Found damage? Tell us when you book. If you’re still seeing moths, mention that too.

Our first look
What we check first
We judge the damage on a clean rug.
We look the rug over when it arrives, and again after the wash. Washing clears out loose fibres, and moth damage that was hidden often only shows up then.
Then we look closely at each patch: how much pile is gone, and whether the threads underneath are still sound or have been eaten through as well. That decides what can be done.
If we find more damage than we expected, we call you first.

Your options
Treatment and repair are different
One is about the moths. The other is about the damage.
Moth treatment doesn’t bring back eaten pile, and a repair doesn’t deal with moths, so a rug with moth damage may need both. Moth repair is specialist work. It’s usually worth it on a valuable rug, an antique or a work of art.
- Treatment An extra for wool rugs, done last, after the wash and any repair. It helps prevent future moth infestations. See moth treatment.
- Repair Where the base of the rug is sound, lost pile can sometimes be rebuilt. Where the threads are gone too, a hand-made rug may need reweaving.
Moth repair is priced after we’ve seen your rug. Call us for a price. Nothing is done without your OK.

One visit
Wash, repair, then treat
Treatment and repair in one trip.
Like every repair, this one begins with a full wash, however new the rug is. The repair comes next, on a clean rug. If you choose moth treatment, it’s the last step, once the repair is done.
Pickup and delivery are free in Toronto, Scarborough, North York and Etobicoke, and in Markham, Richmond Hill, Thornhill and Vaughan. Mention the moths when you book, so we know to look closely.
Rug repair
Other rug repairs
Moths sometimes eat right through to the base, or along an edge. These repairs can help with that, and with other wear.
Questions
Moth damage repair questions
The questions we hear most, answered plainly. For anything else, just call us.
How much does moth damage repair cost?
For a first idea, text photos and the rug’s dimensions to (416) 939-7571. You’ll have the price before any work starts. If you decide against it after the inspection, the return trip costs nothing.
Is moth treatment the same as moth damage repair?
No. Moth treatment is an extra for wool rugs that helps prevent future moth infestations. Repair is separate work on the damage itself, the bare patches and eaten pile. If your rug needs both, the treatment comes last, and we price both before we start.
Is it worth repairing moth damage on my rug?
It depends on the rug and how much is gone. Because it’s slow, specialist work, it makes most sense on valuable, antique or art rugs. We only suggest what your rug really needs, and we’ll say so if a repair isn’t worth it.
Will the moths come back after the repair?
We can’t promise they won’t. Moths can come back from elsewhere in your home. Our tips for keeping moths away can help.
